If you feel lonely...tell me

If you feel misunderstood...let me know

If you miss me...talk to me

If you feel alone... share that

If you are longing for love and attention...express that

If you are grieving...cry to me

If you are scared...speak to me

If you are suffering...allow me to listen and to hold space for you

If you need to be held...ask me, I got you!

I have been engulfed by all the feelings many times over

I know vulnerability, and the debilitating fear of the unknown

But...

Please don't use me as a projector of your anger and fears

Don't be that hurt person, that hurts others

Don't tell me I am not enough for you Don't make demands on me

Don't threaten our friendship in spite of your own pain

Inside you may be suffering deeply, navigating an emotional storm, ask me to be your buoy, have me throw you a life jacket

I am not your enemy, I am your sister, your friend and your confidant, your cheerleader who has hope and faith in you, your family

You are safe with me, just as safe now as you have always been

I will comfort and care for you, through your affliction

I suffer and despair

I have become hopeless

I know the horror of being lost and alone

I know that people don't break your heart...they break your expectations

Our friendship is voluntary and honorable

I choose to be here

You choose to be here

This is what makes it so beautiful

True love is measured through freedom

I am a bird perched on your doorstep

Please don't try to restrain me, lock me in a cage, and put a cap on my love

We are all free to fly

Therefore, we are gifts to each other

The best friendships are when two free birds fly together...
